Home and Community Based Waiver services (PFDS and CW) provide specialized services to eligible individuals utilizing state and federal funding for specific community-based services identified as needed by the individual and their service planning team. Services range from various living arrangements to work and community involvement. Waiver funding may also provide respite services, physical adaptations to the home, and approved specialized therapies.
Family Support Services (FSS) assists individuals with mental retardation by providing funding to support the individual in the community and home setting. Through its Advisory Committee and support of the MCBHC, sponsored the ninth annual semi-formal dance for developmental delayed individuals of Mercer County. The semi-formal has become an annual tradition for many individuals with 154 in attendance this year.
The Early Intervention Program is designed to help families with children with developmental delays from birth to three years old. Early Intervention services build upon the child's natural learning process, which is occurring in the first few years. Program supports encourage a parent-professional partnership by promoting the healthy development of children through the education and empowerment of families. Services are provided in family centered environments.
EI Service Coordination identifies eligible children, evaluates the family's needs and coordinates additional services for the family. The Service Coordinator assists with scheduling evaluations, making referrals for services, and monitoring the child's developmental progress. The Service Coordinator also aids the family with preparation for a successful transition to a preschool program when the child reaches age three.
